The Steelcase Gesture was designed after researchers observed thousands of people sitting – and discovered that most of us sit in 9+ postures throughout the day, including cross-legged or reclined with a tablet. The Gesture’s 360-degree armrests support your elbows whether you’re typing, scrolling a phone, or reading a tablet.

The backrest adapts to each spinal curve individually, providing continuous lower back support even as you twist and lean. The seat pan flexes at the edge to reduce thigh pressure. It’s one of the few chairs comfortable in casual postures – sitting sideways or with one leg tucked under.

At $1,099, it matches the Aeron and Leap on price. The headrest is a $300 extra, and some fabric colours show wear after years of heavy use. If you’re a restless sitter who constantly shifts positions, the Gesture is the most accommodating chair on the market.
