The Makita XFD131 combines a brushless motor with the legendary 18V LXT battery platform. The brushless design eliminates friction from carbon brushes, extending motor life and delivering more runtime per charge. At just 3.4 pounds with battery, it’s one of the lightest 18V drills available.

The 2-speed transmission provides 0-500 RPM for high-torque driving and 0-1,900 RPM for fast drilling. The all-metal gear housing withstands job site abuse, and the rubberised grip absorbs vibration. The kit includes one 2.0 Ah battery, a charger, and a contractor bag.

The single-battery kit is the only downside; most competitors include two. However, if you already own Makita LXT tools, this bare tool or kit expands your arsenal seamlessly. The XFD131 punches well above its weight class.
